| Our Story
Irma's Café was started by two sisters; Wendy Smith and Alice Laney. Their love and rememberance of their mother was the inspiration for the name of the restaurant. Irma had a love for cooking and was quite good at it too! She followed recipes out of her favorite cookbook, "Joy of Cooking," but added a little of this and that to it to create her own taste. Eating tasty and healthy has been a part of our family and we hope to pass some of it on to you.
Our family is originally from the St. Louis/Belleville area. Irma and John had 4 children. In 1968 the family moved to Antigua. In 1982 Irma passed away from cancer and the family has since come back to this area.
Why the restaurant? Irma's Café brings a tasty, fun, healthy alternative to the area. We want people to see that you can have a wonderful tasty meal that is not filled with preservatives and for a reasonable price!
Irma's Café specializes in salads, sandwiches, soups and sweets … our salads have our secret weapon .. our dressings. Our sandwiches … you will be amazed at our signature sandwich or our veggie served with our special seasonings. The soups are made by us and our sweets are all made by us or here locally! Our ingredients are fresh and from local farmers as often as possible. There is no MSG or corn syrup added to any of our food – so come on, order up your favorites and try us out! |
